I have seen a lot of code-samples in Java and C# which use an "object". We have no clue what this object is, it is always an object of a certain type.

Now it's possible that there is no constraint on this object, it could be an int or a string or an arbitrary type. Is this a good way to do it, can there be pitfalls?

And somewhere else:

It is a reasonable way to do it.

However, if you want to use covariant interfaces, you could have:

interface MyObject{}

class MyInt : MyObject{}

interface MyString : MyObject{}

interface MyOther : MyObject{}

class ContrivedClass implements MyString,MyInt,MyOther{}

Then you can write:

public static void main(String[] args) {

ContrivedClass myObj = new ContrivedClass();

Foo.bar(myObj);

}

This will not barf unless you try to call it with an object of type MyOther.
